CALM BRUSH

A team exercise to present creative concepts, this toothbrush measures stress and gives readings with the principles of calm technology.

Artefact prototyping and presenting speculative storytelling, we reenacted a user’s journey for tracking personal emotions, assisting with day-to-day mental health challenges.

DISCOVER RESEARCH

Putting ourselves in the shoes of the users, the team began rigorously interviewing users and experts in relevant fields, observing daily routines, and how they might be served as measuring points for an individuals mood and stress levels.

DEFINE INSIGHTS

Attempting to answer the  question of "How might individuals listen to their bodies when stressed and create an unobtrusive alert." We devised an accessible experience without complex on-boarding and minimal tracking in relation to privacy of individual emotions.

DEVELOP PROTOTYPE

A very basic low-fidelity prototype that was intended to simply communicate the idea was made with parts of an electric toothbrush, LED’s and coloured balloons. The prototype became a storytelling artifact that allowed us to expressthe desired user journey, while other team members ran guerrilla tests with the audience in order to receive feedback.

DELIVER SOLUTION

The realistic nature of the prototype allowed us to ‘sell’ the design to the audience, and prioritise which stages to develop, and implement refinements in as needed.
